John Wick is a famous fictional assassin character created by Derek Kolstad and brought to life by fan-favorite Keanu Reeves. The character of John Wick has been incorporated into four hit movies spanning his life, and two spinoffs are already on the way. The fourth part of the John Wick franchise, titled ‘John Wick: Chapter 4’ was released recently on 6th March 2023 in London and 24th March 2023 in the USA. This one took the movie theaters by storm and received a rating of 8.2 from IMDb, 94% from Rotten Tomatoes, 78% from Metacritic, and 95% from Google users.
‘The Continental: From the World of John Wick’, a spinoff web series, starring Colin Woodell from The Originals, is under development. Donnie Yen has also made his interest in a Caine spinoff clear. John Wick Chapter 5 Release Date
Both Keanu Reeves and director Chad Stahelski have expressed their desire for a John Wick Chapter 5. It was confirmed in August 2020 that the creators were planning to shoot back-to-back scenes for Chapters 4 and 5. However, this decision was pushed back in March 2021 when the focus was put on Chapter 4 only and John Wick Chapter 5 took a step back. They wanted to concentrate all their resources on making the fourth part and thought of going back for a fifth installment afterward.

This decision has become firmer after the unexpected box-office success of ‘John Wick: Chapter 4’. The recent movie is still going strong, and fans are buying tickets for a second, sometimes third, watch. But, Reeves and Stahelski want to take a break from John Wick and sign up for other projects. Reeves will reprise his role as John Wick for some scenes in the upcoming spinoffs. As of now, the John Wick Chapter 5 release date is unknown, but not out of the question.

John Wick Chapter 5 Story
John Wick, the first movie, opens with Helen’s demise and former assassin Wick being destroyed over it. His two precious things are his 1969 Ford Boss 429 Mustang car and Daisy, a beagle puppy that was a gift from his late wife. When the son of a Russian crime boss kills Daisy and takes his car, John is pulled back into his previous life. He exacts his revenge on the son and father and kills anyone who tries to stop him. The end of the first movie sees John returning home with a rescued pit bull.
John Wick: Chapter 2 starts with John taking back his car from the Russians and forming a truce with them. However, his attempt at going back into retirement is foiled by Santino, who wanted John to kill Gianna, Santino’s sister; for him to replace her at The High Table and used his debt to make him obey. Santino even attacks John’s home, and he slowly realizes that everything was a ploy to kill him. After the antagonist places a bounty of $7 million on John, he seeks the help of the Bowery King and finally finds the criminal in New York’s Continental, where bloodshed was banned. John breaches it, killing Santino, and making Winston declare him excommunicado. The High Table gets involved and doubles the bounty before John escapes.
In John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum, John escapes to Morocco with The Director’s help. There, he meets Sofia, who takes him to The Elder; who promises to lift the bounty off of John’s head and restore his position in return for killing Winston and serving The High Table. Even though John agrees then by cutting off his ring finger and sacrificing his wedding ring, he rescinds his decision later. The end of the third chapter finishes with a confrontation between John, Winston, The High Table, other assassins, Zero, and The Bowery King, where John gets grievously injured. The Bowery King saves him, and they both decide to take their revenge against The High Table.
In John Wick: Chapter 4, John kills the new Elder because he did not return his wedding ring. He then travels to Osaka, where he learns that his old buddy, Caine, is there to kill him. John travels to New York to meet Winston, then to Berlin, where his adoptive sister Katia sits as the head, and finally to Paris to duel with Marquis in exchange for freedom. Marquis appoints Caine, and they both face each other in a violent confrontation that results in the death of Marquis. Even though John Wick earns his freedom, he loses the battle to his wounds and dies reminiscing about his life.
John Wick Chapter 5 can act as a prequel to the first movie and trace his origin story. Another plot point for Chapter 5 might be John’s comeback, where we find he is still alive. However, chances are low for this arc.
John Wick Chapter 5 Cast
Keanu Reeves played the role of the famous John Wick in all the movies. However, the supporting characters and antagonists changed in every movie, except for a few of them. Chapter 1 cast Michael Nyqvist as Viggo Tarasov, Alfie Allen as Iosed Tarasov as the main villains, Bridget Moynahan as Helen, John’s dead wife, Lance Reddick as Charon, and Ian McShane as Winston.
Moynahan, Reddick, and McShane reprised their roles in the sequels, along with Laurence Fishburne as The Bowery King. Fishburne’s character was introduced in the second movie with Common as Cassian, Riccardo Scamarcio as Santino, Ruby Rose as Ares, France Nero as Julius, Claudia Gerini as Gianna, and Peter Stomare as Abram Tarasov.
The third movie had a lot of fresh faces like Mark Dacascos as Zero, Asia Kate Dillon as The Adjudicator, Unity Phelan as Rooney, Anjelica Huston as The Director, and Saïd Taghmaoui as The Elder with Segal reprising his role as Earl.
John Wick Chapter 4 casts Donnie Yen as Caine, Bill Skarsgârd as Marquis, Hiroyuki Sanada as Koji, Scott Adkins as Killa, Clancy Brown as The Harbinger, and Shamier Anderson as Mr. Nobody. John Wick Chapter 5 will probably see Reeves, Moynahan, McShane, and Yen reprising their original roles. We can also expect a new cast with a few old faces.
