Supernatural Season 16 Story
Supernatural is a story about the bond between two brothers and how they overcome every hurdle that life throws at them. The show begins with the disappearance of John Winchester, the father of Sam and Dean Winchester. Dean shows up at Sam’s college to enlist his help in finding their father, who has been missing for a long time. The Winchester family is a family of hunters, and their business has one motto, “Saving People, Hunting Things, The Family Business”. Hunters are a group of individuals who hunt supernatural monsters and make the world safer for all.
Season one shows us the brothers’ life on the road in a ‘67 Chevrolet Impala, Dean’s baby, and fighting evil while searching for their father. Season two begins with John’s death. He died to save Dean. It also focuses on the demon, Azazel, who was behind the death of their mother, Mary Winchester. Azazel kidnaps Sam and other psychic kids like him, and Dean has to make a deal with a Crossroads demon to save Sam’s life. They even closed the portal to hell with Bobby, who was like a father to the brothers, and Ellen, a close hunter friend.
Season three focuses on Dean’s deal and how he can wiggle out of it and escape death. They find out that Lucifer’s first demon, Lilith, holds his contract. Another demon named Ruby approaches them to help and corrupts Sam by feeding him her demon blood, thus making him psychically powerful. It also shows Dean’s death at the end. Dean, however, comes back to life with the help of an angel, Castiel, who becomes a major lead. Season 4 focuses on the brothers’ and the angels’ fight to not let the demons break the 66 seals on Earth. This would signify the apocalypse and Lucifer’s liberation. The end of season 4 clarifies that Ruby was using Sam to open the gates of hell and free Lucifer, God’s rival.
In season 5, the brothers avert the apocalypse, but everything comes at a price. Sam gets thrown into Lucifer’s cage with the Archangel inhabiting him along with Adam, their half-brother who had Lucifer’s brother Michael inhabiting him. Seasons 6, 7, 8, 9, and 10 show us more of their battles, like the fight against Leviathans, the oldest beings created by God and then abandoned by him.
We also see the entry of the biblical Cain and his mark, the demon and angel tablets, which comprise all secrets, and the prophets who can translate them. It also takes us through Sam and Dean’s dynamic and their evolving relationship with other recurring characters like Crowley, who becomes king of hell, Kevin Tran, the prophet, Rowena, the powerful witch and Crowley’s mother, and Charlie Bradbury, the hacker. The identity of God is also revealed.
Season 11 introduces Amara, the sister of God. The whole season is about the bond between God, the light, and Amara, the darkness, the first two beings to exist. The end of season 11 brings Mary back from the dead through Amara and the exit of God. Seasons 12, 13, 14, and 15 are the highlights of Supernatural.
It shows us how Lucifer tries to dominate the world, but is ultimately killed in Season 13 by Dean. The story of the antichrist, Lucifer’s son, Jack Kline, is an arc with the concept of parallel worlds acting as another plot. The British Men of Letters vs. the English Men of Letters is an interesting arc as well. Season 15 is a heavy season with the final battle against God by the Winchesters, Jack, Castiel, and Rowena.
