Whitstable Pearl focuses on Pearl Nolan, a single woman who owns a seafood restaurant in Whitstable. She is also a detective, but people are not aware of it. She manages the restaurant with her mother, Dolly, and has a grown son named Charlie. Pearl’s life turns upside down when she discovers her friend’s dead body and gets involved in the investigation, trying to find the culprits. She also butts heads with the new detective from London, Mike McGuire.
Later on, it seems they develop a romantic attachment, although nothing has been explicitly stated. The first two seasons show us the lives of the Nolan family, the different cases Pearl takes over, and her growing dynamic with Mike. Season two ends with another murder where the murder weapon matches a knife Pearl owns and her getting hired to find a mysterious individual, despite Mike’s warnings.
