Lookism isn’t just an anime its a feeling, it hits you hard with the reality of the world. Though the show has been criticized a lot, I am not one of them. Things were a little over exaggarted in the anime, but that doesn’t change the reality. The anime is adaptation of the manga of the same name. Lookism anime basically explores how people who are ugly and fat get bullied a lot and the ones who look beautfiul are treated differently.

In December 2022, A Korean studio named Studio Mir, adapted the manga to turn it into an anime for Netflix. Earlier, this webtoon was published in Korea weekly on Naver Webtoon in November 2022.

There is no release date of season 2 yet, the anime has not been renewed for next installment. Neither the studio nor Netflix has clearly stated the future of this anime. Talking about season one, Lookism was announced at Netflix‘s Tudum event and in October 2022, Netflix announced via twitter that season 1 will land on Netflix on 4th Of November, 2022.

But the release date was postponded due to the incident that happened in Seoul during Halloween and 150 people died. The incident was disastrous and then the anime finally made its debut on 8th December, 2022. Since then, Lookism is generating a lot of popularity. For the first week, it was on Top 10 on Netflix, which tells how otakus are loving the show.
Season one recived a rating of 7.7 out of 10 on IMdb, which is a pretty average rating, not too bad, not too good. The critics have criticized the anime of telling the story which doesn’t happen that much in reality and addition to this it was also criticised for not showing exactly how the manga was written. But, overall the anime has gained a good fanbase all over the world, which has increased the chance for renewal of the show.
The makers have not announced anything, but we are pretty sure we can see season 2 of the show. The studio will consider the financial works for season 2 while Netflix will look for the fanbase season one has created. Before renewing any anime, Netflix usually looks how good previous seasons were and is it worth investing time in the next season. So, Lookism is pretty positive here, as it has great popularity.
In addition to this, the studio that created this anime has good relations with Netflix, as they have worked on plenty of projects with Netflix. So, the chances of renewal are very likely. Lookism Season 2 Story
Another reason why there are great chances for season 2 to come, is where season one left us. Season One Left us a Lot of cliffhangers and we still don’t have answers to that. Coming to the storyline of the show, Park Hyung Seok is a high school student who is fat and ugly and poor, he was bullied by all high school going students because of this. So, he asks his mother that he wants to swicth schools. His mother agrees when she saw those kids bullying him and Park Hyung Seok starts another journey alone at Jaewon High School. But on the day one, he was bullied there too.
So, when he doze off and wakes up he sees another body which in contrast is very beautiful and tall. Now, Park Hyung Seok can swicth between these bodies. When the ugly body is asleep, beautiful body goes to school and when the beautiful body is asleep, ugly body does night shifts at a grocery store. Through his handsome body, he gains a huge popularity in his high school and even helps the kids who were bullied. But, he is not the only one who has two bodies, we see a girl having the same thing. But no explanation to that was given in season one.
So, season 2 would definitely explore the next big things for Park Hyung Seok, how he willl manage the two bodies or will he leave his ugly body. Or maybe he will realise looks doesn’t matter and make his original body better. We might also get an insight into other people who have this special super power who can swap between bodies.

Since, season 2 of the show has not been announced there is no trailer available for season 2 of the anime. Considering, if the anime releases in 2024 or 2025, Netflix might drop the trailer and teaser of the anime 1-2 months before it actually hit the screens.
