Is Haddi Based On A True Story?

Haddi is not based on a true story, and the plot is fictional. However, certain living and working conditions of sex workers and transgenders have been inspired by real-life stories. The makers of Haddi have taken great care in creating this movie, and have done extensive research to make it seem more believable.

Actors like Nawazuddin Siddiqui and the creators have spent hours with transgender people and sex workers talking and learning about their daily lives and struggles. Especially Siddiqui had to pay extra attention to get ready for his role. Haddi has also cast real transgenders for this movie, instead of hiring male actors and dolling them up.

Renuka, one of the transgender women who helped in giving ideas and was consulted, has been mentioned and praised for her assistance. She introduced the creators to other individuals like her which pushed the writers into penning down a good script. Renuka is the one who also actively included Siddiqui in conversations with her friends.

She explained in detail how the medical process is done, how the surgery works, and how they deal with it post-surgery. Haddi is a movie that seeks to condemn violence against women and shows us that no woman is safe. But, it also serves as a reminder that these crimes will not go unnoticed and the perpetrators have to pay for all their wrongdoings.
