Shield Hero was originally titled The Rising Of The Shield Hero or Tate no Yūsha no Nariagari. It was first self-published in Shōsetsuka ni Narō by Aneko Yusagi in 2012 and is still releasing more. A subsequent light novel series illustrated by Seira Minami was published by Media Factory on 22nd August 2013 and released the 22nd volume in 2022. The 23rd volume will supposedly come out on 22nd June 2023.
A seinen manga written by Aiya Kyū was published on 5th February 2014 and is ongoing with the 22nd volume being the most recent one. The isekai anime adaptation of Shield Hero has been written by Keigo Koyonagi and published by Kinema Citrus and DR Movie. Takao Abo is the director of season one, Masato Jinbo directed season two and Hitoshi Haga is the director of Shield Hero Season 3.

Shield Hero Season 3 Story
The story is about Naofumi Iwatani and three other young male protagonists who were summoned to another dimension to become Cardinal Heroes. Their job would be to defend every existing world and fight against a group of destructive monsters called Waves. These Cardinal Heroes were equipped with their own unique weapons and powerful allies.
Naofumi got the Legendary Shield, but his ally turned out to be a lying betrayer who falsely accused him of sexual abuse. As a result of it, he was shunned and mistreated. However, when he is joined by Raphtalia, a demi-human, and Filo, a bird monster, he slowly regains his confidence and sets out to help people. In time, everyone comes to terms with the truth while Naofumi uncovers the reality behind the Waves.
