TIMES WHEN 'ANUPAMA’ POINTED OUT THE RIGHT ISSUES BUT DEALT WITH THEM TERRIBLY

Anupama is the first television programme that comes to mind while discussing or thinking about modern Indian television.

The show has so far been hailed as a resource for empowerment.

But there are so many times when the writers and creators seem to forget or miss out on what gender equality means.

The issues that it tries to raise, need our attention, sure, but the way they are handled is almost irresponsible.

These events provide as evidence:

The reaction on domestic violence

The show addresses domestic violence. Anupama then calls out women for not speaking up enough. The issue is, it’s easier said than done.

Women splurging their husband’s money

According to the show, there’s a character, called Dimpy who asks her husband to pay up for the things that she ordered.

If the wife doesn’t cook, no one will

In one episode they’ll make you believe that they are all for empowering women. And then, the plot loses its own point.

Villianzing women

The show also uses women as the one causing all the major problems.
