Johnny Depp’s Modi Starts Filming in Budapest on November 6

Johnny Depp's upcoming directorial project, "Modi," is set to start filming in Budapest, Hungary, on November 6, 2023.

The biographical film revolves around the life of Italian painter and sculptor Amedeo Modigliani during a pivotal 48-hour period that solidifies his reputation as an artistic legend.

The cast includes Italian actor Riccardo Scamarcio in the titular role, Al Pacino as art collector Maurice Gangnat, French actor Pierre Niney as Maurice Utrillo, and Antonia Desplat.

Johnny Depp returns to the director's chair for the first time in over 25 years, with his previous directorial feature being "The Brave" in 1997.

The film is based on Dennis McIntyre's play "Modigliani" and is adapted by screenwriters Jerzy Kromolowski and Mary Olson-Kromolowski.

Barry Navidi, who has worked with Depp before, serves as a producer alongside Johnny Depp.

The film aims to shed light on Modigliani's struggles as an artist and his quest for recognition.
