Candidates eagerly waiting to take admission to West Bengal colleges in STEM subjects should now get ready for Counselling. WBJEE Counselling  2023 will soon start for the candidates who have cleared the JEE Main or the NATA examination. The candidates can register on the official website soon when the link will be available for them to register. The candidates need to take special Counselling in WBJEE while taking admissions in West Bengal colleges.

It provides Counselling for various courses related to STEM subjects like those related to Engineering or Technology or Mathematics. Various colleges in West Bengal give admissions to students on this basis only. The WBJEE has announced the date of the WBJEE Examination which is going to be held on 30 April 2023 i.e. Sunday. The candidates preparing to appear in this exam need to fasten up their preparations for better performance.

WBJEE Counselling 2023: Documents Required

The following documents are required to be produced by all the candidates while getting admission to any college.

For all candidates:

  1. Secondary school certificate.
  2. Secondary examination mark sheet.
  3. Senior secondary school certificate.
  4. Senior secondary examination mark sheet.

Apart from these certificates, some candidates belonging to various categories need to bring specific documents as applicable, given below are the details of such documents.

WBJEE Counselling 2023 Process

The candidates need to follow a proper method for the entire process of Counselling. The entire process is provided below. Make sure you don’t miss anything in between to be able to successfully take admission to your desired college and course. For the Counselling process, you need to visit the official website of WBJEE.

Step 1. Registration

The first step towards taking admission to your desired college is to register. Register yourself for Counselling after logging in with your WBJEE Roll number and password. After registering for Counselling, fill in all the details meticulously without any mistakes.

Step 2. Choosing College And Course

After the complete registration process, fill in your preference for college and course. The courses and colleges should be filled in decreasing order of preference. That is, the college that is preferred the most should be filled first and the next one second, and so on.

After filling in all the preferences, the candidates must make sure they lock all the preferences before exiting or moving to the next step. The candidates failing to fill preference will not be considered while Counselling is being held or during seat allotment and the ones who fail to lock those preferences, will be allocated seats based on their last saved choice.

Step 3. Fee Payment

The next or third step is to fill out the required Counselling registration fee. The Counselling registration fee for all candidates irrespective of their category is Rs. 500/-. Candidates know that the fee is non-refundable and the payment should be made online. Any online payment method like Net banking Credit card or Debit card can be used for payment.

Step 4. Seat Allotment Result

The fourth step is to check the seat allotment done by the colleges on the basis of candidates’ rank in JEE examination, the preference list filled by them, and the seats available in the colleges. WBJEE 2023 seat allotment will be done online mode and candidates need to make sure they check the website thoroughly. The process between seat allotment and getting admitted into the college consists of three rounds.

Some candidates are allotted seats in the first round, some in the second, and others in the third.

Candidates allotted seats in the first round need to report at the reporting centers at reporting time with all the required documents. The selected candidates need to pay a provisional admission fee at the reporting center itself, according to the college and their category.

Step 5. Reporting at Institute/College

The final step towards your dream college is here. In this, the candidate needs to report to the allocated college to get all their documents verified. The candidates who got the college and course of their choice can pay the acceptance fee and if the candidate is not satisfied with the allotted college, they can opt for up-gradation. The candidate will be provided with a provisional allotment letter that has all the information like allotment details, fee payment details, and up-gradation details, by the reporting centers.

Note- Candidates who get allotted their first preference of college and course can’t opt for up-gradation. It is only available for the candidates whose first preference college or course wasn’t allotted to them.

Counselling  Round 2

Candidates who were not allotted seats in the first round or the ones who opted for up-gradation will be considered in this round of seat allotment. If the candidates who opted for up-gradation are willing to take admission to the colleges allotted in this round, they must report at the reporting centers at reporting time.

The candidates also need to know that they can update their choice of up-gradation from Yes to No, that is, if they don’t want any up-gradation now, they can freely choose to not upgrade their college and can go with the first allotted college.

Counselling Mop-Up Round

Candidates who want to modify their already-filled choices are eligible to do so. To participate in this round of Counselling, candidates need to pay an amount of Rs. 200/-. However it is not compulsory for all, it is optional, if the candidate isn’t satisfied with the college choice, he/she can go for this round. Candidates who are eligible to participate in this round are as follows.

  1. Candidates who completed admission in Round 1.
  2. Candidates who completed admission in Round 2.
  3. Candidates whose admission wasn’t completed in Round 2.
  4. Candidates whose category changed due to document verification in Round 2.
  5. Candidates who paid the admission fee failed the document verification process.
  6. Candidates who didn’t get allotment in any of the previous rounds.
