Civil services in India play a very major role in maintaining the law and order of the nation. We all know how difficult it is for candidates to crack the civil services examination. UPSC exam is known to be one of the toughest examinations in the world but apart from the central level state government also conducts some examinations for the appointment of civil servants at its level. WBCS 2023: Exam Stages

As mentioned above this examination takes place at three different stages. For the proper posting and recruitment, a candidate must pause all these stages to get a government appointment in the civil service in West Bengal.

  • Preliminary Exam
  • Main Exam
  • Personality Test

The personality test has different criteria according to the group. There are 4 different groups according to which a candidate sits in the personality test. These groups are not categorized on any caste rather they consist of several posts for which the recruitment is to be done. After qualifying for the preliminary and main exams, the candidate who applied for the post belonging to Group A and Group B will undergo the personality test of 200 marks while Group C and Group D will have the test for 150 marks and 100 marks respectively.

WBCS 2023 Exam Notification

Examination notification has not been released yet for the year 2023. The advertisement regarding WBCS 2023 is yet to be declared. As per the old trend, the online form filling begins around November every year, and then in January next year, the preliminary exams are held. After the declaration of the results, mid-year months mark the conduction of the main exam. After a few months, the results for this main exam is out and finally qualified students for the personality test are called up. The entire process takes about one and a half years. WBCS recruitment procedure ends with the release of a selection list notifying the selected candidates for the particular post.

WBCS 2023: Exam Syllabus

The syllabus for the preliminary exam is the same for all the groups and the question paper is 200 marks but on the other hand, the main exam has a different syllabus as it gets categorized according to the group. The first two groups, Group A and Group B have the main paper of 1600 marks while Group C and Group D consist of 1200 marks.
