The real Catherine ruled over her empire after the death of Peter, and this gives the makers of the show enough source material for a few more seasons. The Great Season 4 Story
The Great is based on the life and crowning of Catherine the Great, who became the empress of Russia after overthrowing her husband, Peter III. Under her rule, Russia went through a major Renaissance. The first two seasons show us the rift between Catherine and her husband and how they try to pull each other down. The drama adds a bit of humor through various sequences, making it an entertaining watch.
The end of season 2 shows us how Catherine stabbed her husband, Peter, but was drowning in guilt. However, the man she stabbed was one of his doppelgangers, Pugachev, who had been hired to take risks on behalf of the king. Seeing Catherine’s remorse, the couple realizes that love has blossomed, and the episode ends on a cliffhanger.
The Great Season 3 takes off from where the previous season ended. This installment shows us the death of Peter after accidentally falling inside a frozen lake with his horse and the strategic marriage between Georgina and Paul. Catherine is devastated after her husband’s death but emerges from her depression as a new woman. The Great Season 4 might focus on how she strengthens herself and becomes sassier, along with her rise to power. It might also surprise us with sudden twists, but that remains to be seen.
