Shakespeare And Hathaway begins with the meeting of Luella Shakespeare and Frank Hathaway. Frank is an ex-detective inspector with loads of debt on his shoulders who now works as a private investigator. He is assisted by Sebastian Brudenell, an actor. His acting skills are necessary for undercover operations or investigations.
Jake comes across Luella when she enlists his help to investigate the man she was going to marry. She had her doubts regarding her fiancé since she met him online. Frank finds out that the man is a fraudster, but Luella still goes ahead with the wedding ignoring the facts. However, tragedy strikes and her new husband is murdered.
While Detective Inspector Christina Marlowe suspects Luella for the murder, she teams up with Frank and Sebastian to get to the bottom of the mystery. Once her name was cleared of all suspicion, she joins Frank’s detective team with her saved earnings. The rest of the seasons follow Frank and Luella’s journey as they solve various cases together.
