The manga series, Rental Girlfriend explores the genre of harem, romance, drama, and comedy. The series is known for its mature theme and plot.
The story revolves around a twenty-year-old college student, Kazuya Kinoshita who recently got dumped by his girlfriend Mami Nanami who he dated for one month.
He decided to rent a girlfriend from an online dating app and her name was Chizuru Mizuhara. Though the first impression of both of them for each other was not that impressive.
Kazuya gave a low rating to Chizuru on the app and on the next date he saw the mean side of Chizuru. At that moment, Kazuya got a phone call from the hospital regarding his grandmother who collapsed.
Kazuya and Chizuru went to the hospital together to meet his grandmother. Kazuya’s grandmother falls for Chizuru’s sweet looks and her adorable personality. So from now onwards, Kazuya has to bring Chizuru as his fake girlfriend.
To keep up the appearance he has to introduce her as his girlfriend in his family and friend circle. He got more surprised when he discovered that she is his next-door neighbor and study in the same university as his.
In the later half of the series, Kazuya falls in love with Chizuru and wanted to make whatever is between them real but he was joined by other rental girlfriends and his ex-girlfriend who is determined to break the fake relationship between him and Chizuru.
