Grimgar is not the first Japanese anime web series to have been adapted from a light novel series, and it definitely will not be the last. This show has been adapted from Grimgar Of Fantasy And Ash, written by Ao Jūmonji, illustrated by Eiri Shirai, and published by Overlap Magazines. The light novel series released the first volume on 25th June 2013 and is ongoing, with the twenty first volume being the latest.
A following shōnen manga was written by Mutsumi Okubashi and published by Square Enix in the Gangan Joker magazine. It was published on 22nd April 2015 and ended on 22nd June 2016 with three volumes. The anime show Grimgar has been directed and written by Ryosuke Nakamura and produced by A-1 Pictures Studios. It is also known as Hai To Gensō No Gurimugaru and sometimes as Grimgar, Ashes, And Illusions.

Grimgar Season 2 Story
Grimgar is a fantasy show that focuses on inter-dimensional travel and fairy tale characters. The first episode begins with a group of individuals battling a goblin army in the forests of Grimgar. These individuals are from planet Earth, as we know, and they have no idea how they landed in the forest.
However, for survival, they join the so-called military and get appointed as Trainee Volunteer Soldiers by Chief Britney. With Manato as their leader, the group grows stronger and faster. This comes to a standstill after they lose Manato in a war and are left with Haruhiro as their next leader.
They eventually take in Mary as the replacement, who is depressed herself after losing her own gang. Haruhiro and his group take out the culprit responsible for killing Manato and also help Mary find peace by attacking the beings who destroyed her friends.
