Imagine if our world had a portal that could open to a new world. A world full of fantasy and mythical creatures! But such a world will also have its dangers. Yet the concept is so appealing, right? Unfortunately, we are not as lucky as Yōji Itami, the main character of Gate.

Gate Season 3 Release Date
Many people confuse the anime adaptation of Gate with the original novel series by Takumi Yanai. Yanai originally wrote under a different name and published his work on the JSDF arc in season 1. A subsequent novel series titled as season 2 which focused on MSDF was released later. Season 3 of the novel series has not been written and does not exist.
As for the anime adaptation, there is confusion about its seasons, as well. To be clear, Gate only has a single season which was released in two parts like Baki Hanma. The first part of the first season of Gate which was called Gate I released 12 episodes from 4th July 2015 to 19th September 2015.
The second part or Gate II released the remaining 12 episodes from 9th January 2016 to 26th March 2016. It is this second part that some viewers consider to be the second season of Gate. However, there is no Gate Season 2. As of August 2023, Gate Season 3 release date is a long way to come.

Gate Season 3 Plot
Gate is about a literal gate, or to be specific, a magical portal. This portal appeared in Ginza, Tokyo one day creating a huge ruckus when soldiers in medieval Rome costumes began infiltrating the city from the magical gate. The Japan Self-Defense Forces or the JSDF put up a strong fight and entered the portal to negotiate with the Empire on the other end.
The Gate was called the Tokuchi meaning Special Region, and other countries envied it. The government also kept a close eye on its activities lest they had a revolution on its hands if the public became involved. The plot follows Yōji Itami, a member of the JSDF sent to the Special Region to investigate its mythical environment.
On his journey, he helps many people, including Piña Co Lada, the Imperial Princess. But when he faces off against Zorzal, the Imperial Crown Prince, the plot takes a dark turn. Zorzal sets out to destroy Japan with his magical monsters while the JSDF and its allies get ready for combat.
Alongside the doom of Japan, the Gate also poses a threat. Even though the Goddess Hardy was the one to open it, the magicians of the other world are keeping it open threatening worldwide destruction. The Gate needs to be closed forever, or the world will face cataclysmic disruptions.
