The Chittaranjan National Cancer Institute (CNCI) is a self-governing institution that receives funding from the governments of West Bengal and India as well as administrative oversight from the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare of the Government of India. It is a top-tier regional cancer centre that engages in oncology treatment, research, and education. This centre has a rich history that dates back about 60 years, when it was established by the well-known gynaecologist Dr. Subodh Mitra. Its legacy is a magnificent past.
The institute has since attracted several prominent figures in the study of cancer. Today, it is equipped with cutting-edge technology, such as a CT scan, mammography, diagnostic x-rays, a colour Doppler ultrasonography machine, a dual energy linear accelerator with IMRT, IGRT, VMAT, SRS & SRT, telecobalt machines, an integrated brachytherapy unit, a radiotherapy simulator, and a 3D treatment planning system in the departments of radiodiagnosis and radiotherapy respectively. This institute is supported by distinguished faculty members who have a high level of experience in a variety of oncology-related fields and facilities.
The Medical Faculty of West Bengal has partnered with this institute for the past fifteen years to run the paramedical DRT (Tech) and DRD (Tech) programmes. Applicants who have graduated from this institute have been successfully placed in a wide variety of cutting-edge radiotherapy and radiodiagnostics facilities across the state and the rest of India.
Each course has a two-year duration, and each subject’s course price is Rs. 30,000.00 (Rupees Thirty Thousand only), payable in two equal annual installments. Additional costs include the registration fee and examination fee in accordance with West Bengal’s State Medical Faculty regulations. After completing the final test, students are entitled to a salary of Rs 2000 (Rs. Two thousand) only per month for the six-month mandatory internship. This institute does not offer hostel accommodations.
