AFCAT Recruitment 2023 Eligibility Criteria

Educational Qualifications

BRANCHEDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATION
Airborne BranchThe candidates must possess a three- or four-year degree in any field of study, or they must have passed the Section A and B exams for Associate Membership in the Institution of Engineers (India) or the Aeronautical Society of India with a minimum cumulative grade point average of 60%. Additionally, candidates must have earned at least 60% in both math and physics on their class 12 final test.  
Technical Ground Duty  Anyone who has completed a four-year undergraduate degree in engineering or technology, an integrated postgraduate degree, or who passed Sections A and B of the Associate Membership exams for the Institution of Engineers (India) or the Aeronautical Society of India with at least 60% marks is eligible to apply. Additionally, candidates must have earned at least 60% in both math and physics on their class 12 final test.   Candidates who pass the Graduate membership exam of the Institution of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineers are also qualified for the position of Aeronautical Engineer (Electronics).  
Non-technical Ground DutyAdministration & Logistics: Applicants must possess a three- or four-year degree in any field from an accredited university or have passed Sections A & B of the Associate Membership Exam of the Institution of Engineers (India) or the Aeronautical Society of India with a minimum cumulative grade point average of 60%. Additionally necessary is passing the class 12th test with at least 60% in both Physics and Mathematics. Accounts: A com degree with at least 60% of the required marks from an accredited university is required.  
The NCC Special Entry (Flying Branch)The candidates must possess a three- or four-year degree in any field of study, or they must have passed the Section A and B exams for Associate Membership in the Institution of Engineers (India) or the Aeronautical Society of India with a minimum cumulative grade point average of 60%. Additionally, candidates must have earned at least 60% in both Physics and Mathematics in their class 12 final test.   Furthermore, the NCC Air Wing Senior Division “C” certificate is required.

Medical and Physical Requirements

Candidates selected by the AFSB will be subjected to a medical examination at either the AFCME in New Delhi or the IAM in Bangalore.

Age Limit

IAF specifies the age, educational requirement, and nationality requirements for AFCAT eligibility.  

Candidates for the Flying branch must be between the ages of 20 and 24 as of 01.01.2023.

Candidates for the Ground Duty (both Technical & Non-Technical) branch must be between the ages of 20 and 26 as of 01.01.2023.

AFCAT Recruitment 2023 Application Procedure

The application process for the AFCAT (Air Force Common Admission Test) is conducted by Indian Air Force (IAF). It is an online exam conducted twice a year for the recruitment of officers in IAF.

Step 1: The first step of the AFCAT application process is to visit the official website of the IAF. On the home page, you will find the link for ‘AFCAT Application’.

Step 2: Once you click on the link, you will be redirected to the registration page. Here, you will be required to enter your personal details such as name, date of birth, email ID, phone number, etc.

Step 3: After entering the details, you will be required to create a username and password. To log into your account, you will need to use this username and password.

AFCAT Recruitment 2023 Selection Process

The Selection process will be conducted in two phases – written and AFSB Interviews.

The AFSB Interviews will consist of three stages – Psychological Tests, Group Tests, and Personal Interviews. Each of these tests will be conducted to assess the candidate’s overall personality, aptitude, and communication skills.

AFCAT Recruitment 2023 Examination Pattern

The AFCAT exam is conducted in two stages. The first stage is the Online Exam which consists of 100 objective-type multiple-choice questions. The questions are related to General Awareness, Verbal Ability in English, Numerical Ability, Reasoning, and Military Aptitude. The final score is reduced by 0.25 marks for each wrong response.

 The second stage is the Air Force Selection Board (AFSB) Test which consists of three tests – Officer Intelligence Rating (OIR), Psychological Test, and Group Tests.

Officer Intelligence Rating (OIR) Test

This test comprises Verbal Ability and Non-Verbal Reasoning. It is designed to assess the candidate’s ability to think logically and solve problems.

 Psychological Test

This test is designed to assess the candidate’s psychological traits and emotional stability. The test comprises of Picture Perception and Discussion Test (PPDT) and the Situation Reaction Test (SRT).

Group Tests

This test assesses the physical and mental strength of the candidate. It includes Group Discussions and Group Planning Exercises.

Once the candidate clears the Online Exam and the AFSB Test, they will be eligible to appear for the medical examination and interview. The final selection of the candidate is based on the marks obtained in the Online Exam, AFSB Test, Medical Exam, and Interview.
