A Teacher Plot
The story revolves around Claire Wilson, she is a 30-year-old high school, English teacher who started having an illegal affair with Eric Walker, he is a 17-year-old high school boy.
The show has many ups and downs and showed us how these sexual predator advances destroy the life of victims.
What Happened In A Teacher Season 1?
Claire Wilson started working in a high school as an English teacher. She is married to Matt Mitchell and they have been trying for a baby.
But it looks like Claire was not able to get pregnant and the couple decided to see a doctor. They discovered that Claire could get pregnant with the help of the doctors.
Meanwhile, Claire started teaching her first class where she met Eric who is very intelligent and she started seeing Eric as a man, not a high school boy.
Eric asked Claire to give him tuition classes to which Claire agreed and one thing led to another they started hooking up. It was clear that Eric and Claire, both had some issues but the actions of Claire were still questionable.
Claire had an alcoholic father who in the present time is sober and clean, but the effect on Claire of her father is noticeable.
In the scene where Logan [Eric’s friend] brother invited both Claire and Eric to a frat party, unknown to the fact that Claire is Eric’s teacher. On one hand where Eric hesitated on the other hand Claire eagerly accepted the offer.
Claire does not have any experience of going to a party since she was busy taking care of her father and Eric’s father left him and his mother when he was a child.
This affects Eric when we see him talking to himself in the mirror saying ‘I am a man.’
There was another issue also which was addressed in the show – Logan having non-consensual sex with a 14-year-old. The girl was his friend’s sister and we saw him saying that ‘age is just a number.’
In the end, Claire told about her affair with Eric to another teacher who she considered a friend and her husband. From this moment everything went downhill for Claire.
She got arrested and spend a few years in jail and Eric got into college. But we see how Eric was affected by all of these when he heard the news of Claire coming out of jail.
He just laid in bed and did nothing but eventually, he realized he needed help which he got with his mother’s help.
We saw Claire’s psychology when she blamed Eric by saying that he was the first one who initiated all this. Even in the end, Claire got a husband and had two children meanwhile Eric couldn’t put his past back and was not fully recovered.
When Claire and Eric met for the last time, she apologized but she made everything about her like how much she suffered and how much her career was affected.
Eric stood up for himself by saying she ruined his life.
